Historia: En el animé High School of The Dead, Saeko es parte del grupo de sobrevivientes de la Escuela Preparatoria de Fujimi tras el brote de muertos vivientes que ha azotado al mundo entero. Se une al grupo de Takashi y Rei cuando salva a la enfermera Shizuka Marikawa de un grupo de “Ellos” en la enfermería. Es muy centrada y tiene altos preceptos de honor infundados por su educación y su entrenamiento en el Bushido y Kendo. Más adelante en la historia, Saeko revela que a pesar de que Takashi y los demás han tenido que hacer de todo para sobrevivir, incluso matar (Como lo hizo Takashi para salvar a Rei de un tipo desquiciado en la estación de gasolina), Saeko ya era así desde antes que se iniciara el Apocalipsis zombie, ya que relata que 4 años atrás fue atacada y casi violada por un tipo en la calle, pero ella, usando su entrenamiento en Kendo, pretendió estar asustada para tenderle una trampa y atacarlo. Según ella le rompió el omoplato y el fémur y terminó matándolo. La policía la dejó ir porque asumió que fue en defensa propia, pero según Saeko ella disfrutó el momento argumentando que finalmente tenía un enemigo definido por el cual había entrenado tanto, desarrollando así una especie de filia a combatir y pelear, a tal grado de producirle excitación sexual a Saeko. Aún así, Takashi la acepta y le dice que la admira por ser la “chica más genial que haya conocido”. Actualmente en el manga, en el Capítulo 29, ella junto con el grupo liderado por Takashi, se encuentran con la mamá de Rei en las cercanías de su casa.

Aptitudes como guerrera: A pesar de no tener poderes sobrenaturales, Saeko es una excelente guerrera y podría decirse que una Samurai moderna. Su habilidad con la espada es fina y exquisita, al mismo tiempo que es certera y mortal. Es ágil, fuerte y rápida. Y si a esto le agregamos que disfruta pelear a tal grado de excitarse, la convierten en una oponente feroz y temible.

Sapuri: Yurei. Es el fantasma en la cultura Japonesa. Igual que sus contrapartes Occidentales, se piensa que los Yurei son espíritus que fueron arrebatados de sus vidas pacificas tras su muerte debido a que les ocurrió algo en vida que dejaron sin resolver, no tuvieron los rituales adecuados o cometieron suicidio.

Tradicionalmente, los Yurei suelen ser femeninos, vestidos con mortajas, un kimono funerario blanco y abrochado al revés. Carecen de piernas y pies y frecuentemente están acompañados por fuegos fatuos (Hinotama en japonés), de color azul, verde o púrpuras. Estas llamas son partes del fantasma más que seres independientes. Los Yurei también suelen tener en sus frentes pedazos de papel o tela triangulares conocidos como Hitaikakushi. Varios de ellos son representados con cabellos negros, largos y despeinados. Algunas veces, monjes budistas son contratados para exorcizar casas de los Yurei y estos son deificados para aplacar su dolor o sed de venganza.

Sin embargo, los Yurei suelen ser definidos por la forma en la que murieron y su actuar después de muertos. Las categorías de los Yurei son las siguientes:

*Onryō: Son fantasmas vengativos que vuelven del purgatorio por un mal hecho a ellos durante su vida.
*Ubume: Es el fantasma de una madre que murió durante el parto, o murió dejando niños pequeños. Estos Yurei a menudo suelen regresar para cuidar a los niños y regalarles dulces.
*Goryo: Son fantasmas vengativos del tipo aristócrata, en especial aquellos que fueron martirizados.
*Funayurei: Son fantasmas que fallecieron en el mar.
*Zazhiki-warashi: Son fantasmas de niños, más traviesos que peligrosos.
*Fantasmas guerreros: Son los fantasmas de veteranos que murieron en las guerras Genpei.
*Fantasmas seductores: Son fantasmas de un hombre o una mujer, que después de muertos, inician un romance con una persona viva.

En este caso, el Sapuri Yurei es una representación de un Onryo.

Técnicas como Espectro:

*Psicoquinesia: Saeko puede usar una poderosa psicoquinesia para mover objetos, lanzar a su oponente por el aire o manipularlo a su antojo o estremecer el lugar, con tan solo pensarlo.

*Noroi no ken: En japonés, la Espada Maldita, es la espada que viene junto con el Sapuri del Yurei. Al usarla, puede crear cortes de energía negativa que arrasan con todo lo que tocan.

*Haka no noroi: En japonés, Maldición de Ultratumba. Es una técnica que le permite a Saeko colocar sellos energéticos sobre todo el cuerpo de su oponente. Al hacer esto, ella conecta su cuerpo con el de su oponente provocando que este sienta lo que ella siente. Así, Saeko al infligirse heridas las puede infringir en su enemigo sin la necesidad de tocarlo. Cabe señalar que esta maldición le permite a Saeko ser invulnerable a sus ataques, siempre y cuando siga el enlace con su enemigo.

Story: In the High School Of The Dead anime, Saeko is part of the group of survivors of Fujimi High School following the outbreak of the undead that has swept the world. She joins the group of Takashi and Rei when she saves the nurse Shizuka Marikawa of a group of "Them" in nursing. Skills as a warrior: Despite having no supernatural powers, Saeko is a great warrior and arguably a modern Samurai. Her swordsmanship is fine and exquisite, while it’s accurate and deadly. Surplice: Yurei. It’s the ghost in the Japanese culture. Like their Western counterparts, are thought the Yurei are spirits that were taken from their peaceful lives after their death because they did something in life they left unresolved, didn’t have the proper rituals or committed suicide.

Traditionally, the Yurei are usually female, dressed in shrouds, a white mortuary kimono fastened upside down. Lack of legs and feet and often are accompanied by fatuous flames (Hinotama in Japanese), blue, green or purple. These flames are part of the ghost rather than independent beings. The Yurei also tend to be on their foreheads triangular pieces of paper or fabric known as Hitaikakushi. Several of them are represented with black hair, long and unkempt. Sometimes, Buddhist monks are hired to exorcise them from houses and these are deified to assuage their grief or revenge.

However, Yurei are usually defined by how they died and their deeds after death. The categories of Yurei are:

*Onryō: Vengeful ghosts are coming back from purgatory for a wrong done to them during their lifetime.
*Ubume: The ghost of a mother who died during childbirth, or died leaving young children. These Yurei often return to care for children and give them candies.
*Goryo: They’re vengeful ghosts of the aristocratic type, especially those who were martyred.
*Funayurei: There are ghosts who died at sea.
*Zazhiki-Warashi: They’re ghosts of children, more mischievous than dangerous.
*Phantom Warriors: The ghosts of veterans who died in Genpei wars.
*Seductive Ghosts: Ghost of a man or a woman, who after death, begins an affair with a live person.

In this case, the Yurei Surplice is a representation of an Onryō.

Techniques as Specter:

*Psychokinesis: Saeko can use a powerful psychokinesis to move objects, throw her opponent into the air or manipulate him at her will and shake the place, with just thinking about it.

*Noroi no ken: In Japanese, the Cursed Sword, is the sword that comes along with the Yurei Surplice. When using it, she can create negative energy cuts destroy everything they touch.

*Haka no noroi: In Japanese, Curse of the afterlife. It's a technique that allows to Saeko energy seals placed over the body of her opponent. Doing this, she connects her body with that of his opponent causing him to feel what she feels. Thus, to inflict the wounds may infringe on her enemy without touching. Note that this curse allows Saeko be invulnerable to her attacks, long as she continues the link to her enemy.
